700 UP AS ICE-MAN KEEPS HIS COOL

FC Vasco needed two goals to make it 700 goals during their 10 year history. With the help of Marc May and Adam Jones they reached that milestone with three games to spare. A great gutsy performance still couldn't help Vasco claim three points as the look to finish on a high.

FC Vasco had the best of the early running and went ahead early as Marc May chased down a long ball. The keeper came out to clear and cannoned his clearance of his own defender, allowing Marc May to slot the ball in to an empty net.

Hadley Green soon pulled themselves back level soon after but then came the moment that Vasco players had hoped would come before the end of the clubs existence. A quick free-kick by Andy Kingsbury found the unmarked Shaun Burrows. Shaun evaded one challenge and was then upended in the box. Penalty said the referee and Vasco had been given a chance to score their 700th goal.

If there was one Vasco player you wanted to keep his cool in the baking hot sun, then surely it would be the ice-man. Adam Jones stepped up, sent the keeper the wrong way, and very coolly slotted the ball in the left hand side of the net. The 700th goal had finally arrived!

With Hadley Green on the verge of winning the title and FC Vasco calling it a day at the end of the season, Hadley Green came back in to the game and killed off any revival by FC Vasco by scoring three second half goals. Hadley Green will know that they have been in a game as the look certain to claim the Division Four title this season.
